  1. Good grief! Never heard of this one. My curiosity is sending me to Google.

  2. Sounds like a real trip! ☺ Directed by Francis Ford Coppola's son, also starring members of Devo, Carl & Rob Reiner, Moon Unit Zappa. Only one star on IMDB. Was it really worth watching??

    1. DEBBIE, it is an ultra-silly movie, but a REAL "guilty pleasure" for me (*see review title). Sometimes a cold Mojito and a silly movie is just what the doctor ordered.

      I not only own the movie on DVD but also own the soundtrack on CD. That's how much this movie amuses me.

      I don't think they missed a single fad that was big around the year 1976. Remember all the restaurants listing their menu items with names like "The Constitution Burger" and "The Liberty Salad"? Remember all the fire hydrants painted with red, white and blue patriotic themes? And all the self-help seminars? It's all here!

      IMO, the movie is worth watching for the Ford Pinto scene ALONE!

      It's totally goofy, but a good goofy.

    2. The Ford Pinto scene? ☺ Okay, I'm sold! Living in Canada, I missed most of the 1976 hoopla south of the border, but it sounds like fun times.

    3. Ha! I totally forgot that you're in Canada. The 1976 Bicentennial was a huge thing in the U.S.A. Everyone was in the Red, White and Blue mood.

      SOooooo... I guess some of this stuffs might not register with you like it did with me and my brother, Judge Al. The painted fire hydrants won't mean a thing to you, but they were EVERYWHERE here.

      Do you remember the reputation that Ford Pintos had? What they were notoriously known for?

      DEBBIE, save it for some night when you're in a very lighthearted mood, and then take a little trip with David Cassidy to "IKIKI BEACH". Ha!

    4. Pintos had a little problem with exploding gas tanks, as I recall. ☺ The Bicentennial must have been a huge party. If memory serves me right, and it often doesn't, I think I was down in San Diego that year, visiting my parents, so I must have seen some of the festivities. My most vivid memory of that time was going to Sea World. 'IKIKI BEACH' sounds like fun.

    5. Ha! Yeah, the 'sploding Pintos. To paraphrase the old Brylcreem commercials: A little tap will do ya. [;o)}

  3. Al Bondigas here. Yeah, it was meant to be silly and goofy. Man, people just don't know how to have fun anymore. I bet the series 'Get Smart' would get one star too. People might find it unrealistic and "silly".

    1. Very good point and comparison to 'Get Smart', Judge Al. I mean, really, it doesn't get much more silly and ridiculous than this...

      AGENT 86: "Chief, I insist we use the Cone Of Silence!"

      But it's still funny all these years later.

    3. Ha! Classic stuffs!

      I just now put on my 'The Spirit Of '76' soundtrack. Not a lot of tracks on it -- just 13 -- but some real good ones. There are even some Disco songs on here that I actually like. (*GASP!*)
